Have A Happy Valentine’s Day !!

It’s the smiles, the simple conversations and the laughs that bring us joy. It is the unspoken words and gestures that we feel and understand. It is these special little things, in those special moments that remind us that life is much better with the special people that we have in it.

Celebrate the good, appreciate the little things, acknowledge friends and acquaintances, it brightens everyone’s day.

Have A Valentine’s Day,

Charleen

Did You Know?

  • Whole Foods has asked its suppliers to lower prices as costs have come down too…..more evidence of Deflation? When you raise prices beyond rising wages (and inflation) and the consumer runs out of savings, prices must come down to stay in business. (CNBC)

  • Food prices keep rising…..so do many food maker profits: In mid-October, PepsiCo, whose prices for its drinks and chips were up 17% in the 3rd quarter from year-earlier levels, had profits up more than 20%. Coca-Cola’s reported profits were up 14% from a year earlier, thanks in large part to price increases. Chipotle Mexican Grill, who raised prices by year-end 2022 nearly 15% higher than a year earlier, reported profits up nearly 26% from a year earlier. Higher costs are mostly passed on to the consumer….until the consumer pushes back. (NY TIMES)

  • There are more grandparents around than ever before: almost 1.5 BILLION of them! Two big demographic trends show their rising importance. First, people are living longer. Since 1960 global life expectancy has risen from 51 to 72 years. Second, families are shrinking, which means the ratio of living grandparents to children is steadily rising. The growing roles of the elderly matter in varied and surprising ways. (THE ECONOMIST)

  • Among all the gas ranges tested by Reviewed, the average time-to-boil was 8 minutes, 34 seconds, while radiant electric cooktops average 5 minutes, 47 seconds. However, induction averaged 3 minutes, 7 seconds, less than half the time of gas. Maytag claims that induction cooktops can be 3X more energy efficient than gas cooktops according to ENERGY STAR. With induction cooking, less energy is lost to the surrounding air because the cookware itself becomes the source of heat, and the workload of the HVAC system overall is reduced.
